Vol. 1, Issue: No. 44 October,  2005 Published by The Manhattan Club, 200 West 56th Street New York, 10019
 BROADWAY OPENINGS

Sweeney Todd
(musical)
Eugene O'Neill Theater
230 West 49th Street
Now in previews. Opens 11/03/05

Stephen Sondheim's amusing tale of the demon barber of Fleet
Street makes its way back to Broadway with stage veteran Patti
Lupone cast in the role of Mrs. Lovett. Unlike the earlier production
starring Angela Landsbury, this production employs no orchestra, the ten actors play
all the instruments needed to accompany the action on stage. Instead of the London
of yesteryear, the setting for this quirky revival is a modern day asylum where each
of the inmates plays out a portion of the story.

Naked Girl on The Apian Way (comedy)
American Airlines Theater
227 West 47th Street
Opened 10/06/05

This comedy by Richard Greenberg brings Jill Claybourgh back
to the Broadway stage after a twenty year absence. She stars
along side Richard Thomas as parents of two children who
return home after a year in Europe. The story is complex and funny and, unlike
the title may suggest, involves no nudity.

Absurd Person Singular

Biltmore Theater
261 West 47th Street
Now in previews. Opens 10/18/05

This comical farce starring Paxton Whitehead and Deborah Rush
follows the lives of three couples over the course of three Christmas
Eves. In the same vein as "Noises Off" this play employs a lot of
physical comedy to paint a close to chaotic picture.

A Touch of The Poet
(Drama)
Studio 54
254 West 54th Street
Now in previews. Opens 11/11/05

A Touch of The Poet is a lessor known drama by Eugene O'Neill.
This classic play produced for the first time after 27 years analyzes
the burden placed on the human psyche by the need to uphold one's
status in society despite adversity. Irish actor Gabriel Byrne plays Cornelious Melody, a
family man who struggles to maintain his self image while facing financial downfall.

Jersey Boys (musical)
Virginia Theater
245 West 52nd Street
Now in previews. Opens 11/06/05

Baby boomers with a love for the innimmicable sounds of the Frankie
Valli and the Four Seasons will want to run to the box office for this
special treat. "Jersey Boys" presents the rise to stardom by five Jersey
natives who became known throughout America and "The Seasons." Much of the play is
set in recording studios and night clubs, providing the perfect staging for the performance
of song writer Daniel Reichard's memorable hits. If "Mamma Mia" had you dancing in the aisles, this one should have you singing in your seats.
