Lincoln Center is synonymous with great music, dance and theater. But did you know that the neighborhood surrounding Lincoln Center has everything from great shopping to incredible dining establishments featuring cuisine from around the world.
The neighborhood is called Lincoln Square and goes from Central Park West at 58th Street to Amsterdam Avenue and 70th Street. Just an amazing place to explore before and after a performance at Lincoln Center.
To truly appreciate this great neighborhood you should take the FREE walking tour offered by the Lincoln Square Business Improvement District Association. The walking tour, offered every Saturday at 11:00am, includes a detailed history of the area with special attention paid to the architectural jewels and surprising enclaves that feature great public art. The tour is three to four hours long and makes many stops along the way. The tour meets at the main monument at Central Park’s Merchant’s Gate across from the Columbus Circle fountain, 59th Street and Central Park West. No reservation is necessary. Dining
Aegean Restaurant, 221 Columbus Avenue is a great, inexpensive Greek restaurant with all the traditional dishes. The décor is simple and the service is quick and friendly. It is a great place to just stop in and enjoy good authentic cooking. For a reservation please call (212) 873-5057.

Café Des Artistes, 1 West 67th Street is the most romantic place in Lincoln Square to take the one you love. The fine French provincial cuisine is graciously served in a cozy space with magnificent art adorning the walls. Absolutely the best choice if a marriage proposal is in mind. Fiorello’s, 1900 Broadway is a great Italian establishment by the same restaurateur who owns the Redeye Grill and Trattoria dell’Arte. The food is spectacular and the plentiful antipasto bar has a myriad of choices that change daily. It is a boisterous environment with seasonal out-door seating. A great place to people watch. Jean Georges, One Central Park West in the Trump International Plaza is one of the City’s finest French restaurants. The service is impeccable, as is the understated décor. Everything works in perfect harmony with the remarkable culinary creations at the center of it all. A perfect place to celebrate a very special evening as the cost for dinner will make it prohibitive most any other time. Nick and Toni’s, 100 West 67th Street serves simple yet delicious Mediterranean cuisine. They specialize in dishes prepared in a traditional wood-burning oven and, although the menu is limited, every dish is wonderful. This popular restaurant can be a bit expensive so be prepared. Ollie’s Noodle Shop and Grille, 1991 Broadway is extremely casual dining with an emphasis on a good, inexpensive meal when you don’t have a lot of time. The menu is extensive and making a choice will take you longer then getting your order. No reservation is necessary.

Rosa Mexicano, 61 Columbus Avenue is a stylish and festive Mexican restaurant with incredible margaritas and a made-to-order guacamole that alone is worth the visit. The food is fantastic and the modern décor is quite attractive. The prices can be a little steep and the restaurant a little loud, but for a fun and delicious evening you can’t go wrong. Sapphire Indian, 1845 Broadway serves subtly spiced Indian gems. Their menu is a perfect blend of traditional cuisine with contemporary flare. With so much to chose from their menu can be wonderfully daunting so to make the decision easy try their incredible lunch buffet. Shun Lee Restaurant and Café, 43 West 65th Street is an upscale Chinese restaurant with a more reasonably priced café next door. Both run by one of the top Chinese chefs in New York City. New York Look, 30 Lincoln Plaza between 62nd and 63rd Streets has trendy fashions that feature the current styles for the sophisticated woman. They also have great lingerie and unique accessories.

Bonne Nuit Lingerie, 30 Lincoln Plaza between 62nd and 63rd Streets is the perfect store to pamper yourself with the finest French lingerie or to purchase the perfect gift that will show how much you care. The terrycloth bathrobes are luxuriant and their selection of sleepwear and loungewear is impressive. Ballet Company, 1887 Broadway between 62nd and 63rd 
Streets is an adorable small shop that sells ballet accessories for the aspiring dancer. They sell beautiful tutus, leotards and ballet slippers for even the youngest of dancers. 
Book Stores

Walter Reade Theater, 70 Lincoln Center Plaza, 65th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue features The Film Society of Lincoln Center offering the best in world cinema to a discerning film going audience.
